Please join us in congratulating Carla Wallace-Bolston on being IMS’s May employee of the month! As a retired U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer and seasoned Physician Assistant, Carla brings decades of clinical leadership, operational discipline, and global experience her role as an inpatient medical coder at IMS.
Her supervisor, Colleen, nominated Carla because, “She is a great asset to IMS; her positive personality and vast knowledge are appreciated and respected. Carla has stepped up to be a mentor for our other Inpatient Medical Coders and she has supplied them with great resources and knowledge to be successful at their mission.”
Carla says she’d explain her job to a child as, “I am like a hospital detective. When people stay in the hospital, doctors write down everything they do in a secret language. My job is to translate the doctor’s notes into special number codes that tell the computer exactly what happened so the hospital and insurance can understand exactly how to help the patient. “
